Don’t engage passively in your destiny.

Are you feeling anxious about upcoming changes in your life or changes that you know you must make, but feel uncertain where to start? Do you find yourself reliving moments of your past that bring you feelings of discomfort, and sometimes impact relationships or the things you do? Have you lost sight of your personal goals for the future, simply trying to get yourself motivated enough to make it through the week?

Sankofa Life Therapy

With a holistic approach to life and wellness, I support people with identifying the barriers to their life satisfaction and establishing the changes needed to achieve increased states of happiness. And yes, I said states because happiness, as in any emotion, is a feeling that will come and go. Sometimes lengthening those experiences comes from identifying the blocks and removing them. I focus not just on mental health, but all aspects of wellness ranging from physical health to spirituality.

You are perfect. Whether on your good days, bad days, or even ones you would want to take back. Underneath the roles, behaviors, possessions or views; you are your own version of perfect imperfection. I look forward to the opportunity to support all parts of you in your journey of growth and healing.

Treatment styles

What are you working towards in your life?

Each session, we will work collaboratively to identify emotional, thought and behavioral barriers impacting levels of internal harmony and feelings of happiness. I will work to support you in working through distortions, enhancing mind/body connection, establishing plans for coping and self-care, as well as working to identify and resolve stuck points in your life.

My clinical training has been in the areas of CBT, DBT, cognitive processing, sandtray, solution-focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing and the use of expressive techniques, to name a few. However, I identify myself as having an eclectic approach to treatment. Primarily working from a person-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed, solution-focused lens to treatment; I utilize a range of techniques to address primary concerns brought up at the time of session.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that all those who feel they need, or could just benefit, from professional mental health treatment, seek support.

Treatment Population

I provide therapy to therapists, working professionals, stay-at-home moms and dads, transition-age young adults, as well as anyone looking to experience growth in their life. As someone who worked through my own periods of anxiety and depression in the past, I have an important understanding of the impact that mental health can have on increasing the stress of work, creating conflict in interpersonal relationships, negatively impacting motivation, increasing fears around change and leading to decreased self-care. I am here to help you identify and establish a well-balanced life.

I feel honored by the opportunity and look forward to the chance to walk beside you in your path of growth.
